Devil's Kin

The flames of destruction rose triumphly up the room

Burning the last pearl of my love for you.

Fearless of the world you sat on the debris,

Of my shattered heart and my skinless bones.

The deception in your eyes shone so bright,

I could see the blindness give way to my sight.

Swarming in the pool of lies you behold,

I could never really see your heart so cold.

Unbothered by the injuries you had caused,

you moved on to take the other’s soul,

Paused and looked right at me;

Your faith in love got you locked in my cell

The angel baby with a halo is only a fake tell.

Armed with the sense of false security and pride,

I saw the 100’s before me with their eyes all dried,

A hint of cowardice I saw in his eyes,

For he too had to hide behind humanity’s lies.
